Sun Stand Still _{What Happens When You Dare To Ask God For The Impossible}

I'm praying for my fire to come back. The fire I had when I first became a follower of Jesus and I was experiencing joy and expecting miracles every day. I'm praying for a feeling of certainty, and that He would remove the cloud of confusion over my head. I'm praying to know God's will and His direction, even if it's only a step at a time. I'm praying for His provision, not just for my needs, but even for my wants...so that I may be able to steward my finances wisely and use what I have to bless others more. I'm praying for my family and believing that this is the year that they will be saved. I'm praying for my own future family. That I would be patient in waiting, but also expectant, that I would know with full confidence by faith that God can grant me the desires of my heart, even if I don't see how these will come to pass. And I pray to be able to release my burdens and worries...that I may be able to experience His comfort, rest, and love. -

Pls pray for my family. My mom needs healing, and my husband and I want to have children but have been unable to conceive so far. We need a miracle! -

I am loosing my job at the end of the month and am feeling called to plant a church. It is something that only God can do! -

Our church is developing a plan to hire a full time Family Minister. I am currently over the childrens ministry there, and hold a secular job. Looking for Gods guidance as to whether or not to step forward and say that this is an opportunity that I want. It would be a huge paycut for me so I am scared and not sure what to do or say. This would include taking over my position as lead over the childrens ministry so it is very near to my heart. Looking for prayers in seeking out what is best for my family. It has not been offered to me but I feel like after 2 years of working with this church I would be the right fit. I am just looking to serve Him in the right capacity. -

My prayer is for my future wife. That God would continue to bless her, guard her and prepare her, as he is doing with me. I long to grow into and become the husband and father he created me to be. One that will lead her and always pursue her passionately - ab. -

Believing for Supernatural Breakthrough Growth (spiritual, financial, numerical) at Cross River in the next 90 days. Also, Wisdom for possible facility relocation. -

My Prayer: Hope for the Gulf Not to become the 2nd Dead Sea. Hope for our nation: No Poverty. Hope for a Job for me and all of our Nations humanity. And Hope for deliverance from bondage of hopelessness. Hope that I can see my Father God as Loving and not as I saw my earthly father; neglectful, abusive and uncaring. We are in desperate need for the Sun to stand still over our daughter, Miranda's current spiritual situation. She has recently married a guy who says he is an atheist. She will not talk to any of her immediate family. We pray for salvation, & relational healing. Thank You! -

pray for my daughter, Jessica, who has turned her back on GOD and says she believes no more. This I think is due to her daughter being borned with a handicap but who is a miracle in itself the past 10 years. Also ffor her and the family to mend relationships with each other. -

Please pray for reconciliation with our son, Jeremy and his wife Mandi, and an amazing relationship with the two of them for my husband, our other son, Adam, and myself for the future. We have always been a very close family and in January our son married Mandi. They have cut off all communication with my husband and myself and most communication with our son, Adam. We have tried to reconcile and have asked for forgiveness, to no avail. We all know Christ as our Lord and savior. We are confused as to what is going on and miss them both terribly. -

My wife and I have sat by for the last 5 years waiting to see what God was going to do in and through a the songs he's given us. Recently, after taking some steps in faith we have seen him do immeasurably more than what we could ask or hope for. We see Him moving in areas we thought were shut off and are grateful for the glimpse of the future. Will you pray that He reveals and provides in a huge way, we need major finances to pursue this God size dream. It's more than music, it's being a part of the move of God in this city. My Sun Stand Still pray has been lingering in my heart since I was 16... and I'm a LONG way past that now... 20 years, to be exact. It was truly ignited in February 2009 by Pastor Steven's message "Dress for the Wedding." That title is remarkably appropriate. You see, my Sun Stand Still prayer is to not only marry, but to be a pastor's wife... to be partners in both life and ministry. I spent four years at a Christian university just full of pastors-to-be, but no ring by spring and no money back! ;) A tough pill to swallow, for sure. But in the last few years, I have really seen the wisdom and purpose in God's plan. The changes He needed to work in me. The things that He wanted to accomplish through me as a single woman... things I could not have thrown myself into with abandon had there been a husband and kids in the picture. But I have always believed it would happen. And six months ago, I thought I was on the brink of having this prayer answered. And then everything blew up in my face. Pastors live in fishbowls. Especially single ones. So do single women in leadership positions. I can't think of many things I hate more than gossip... except perhaps a lack of communication in its aftermath. Today I sit here wondering why Christians feel the need to chatter endlessly about things that aren't their business and that they really don't know anything about. But I digress. The reality is this relationship is in desperate need of healing. But God's hand is so evident. His encouragement unmistakable. I do not believe He is done here. And I believe that this can only be worked out through God's intervention. Through it all He is teaching me to love with His love... when it hurts and I don't want to... to forgive when there's no admission of wrongdoing... to trust Him to work this out for my good and His glory. Do I like the process? Not so much. Would I change it? No. The pits are absolutely necessary in the refining process. My faith could not be what it is today without these experiences. And I could not be the woman I am - or a future pastor's wife - without them. I have never wanted anything the way I want this. I believe this is a desire God has both sown and grown in my heart. And I have never fought for anything the way I have fought for this. I have the scars to prove it. But I also have the victories along the way... and triumph is just around the corner. To Him be the glory! -

My SSS prayer is that the knowledge my son has of God in his head will move to his heart and that he will be saved. -

My prayer is that the 5 month old church plant where I work reaches 500 by the end of the calender year. God has shown us that HE has prepared the the ground for a bountiful harvest & we long to be his field workers. -

My husband and I live in a condo community that has deteriorated. The outside areas and communal areas inside are not kept up any more; there has been a rise in violence, break-ins and car theft. We heard gun shots last week that scared us both. We haven't been able to get cooperation from the developer on noise nuisances from the elevator and sprinkler system that are adjoining our condo. We have had one water/mildew repair once already that we had to pay out of pocket. We currently have a lien on the property and didn't even know it, all because of a mis-communication with the HOA company who still does not communicate with us. Our condo community is mostly owned by the developer so the private owners are the minority and do not get what we ask for, we don't have a board of directors. And on top of that me and my husband want a child but since we are now upside down its hard to sell and get a bigger and more safe place to stay. We just want to rent an apartment somewhere else. We are thankful for a roof over our heads, but we are praying our Sun Stand Still prayer for a way out of our condo. I'm a 52 year old pastor that has served the same rural traditional church for 19 years. But lately God has been calling me to something new. I sense a call to plant a missional and transformational new church. It"s exciting and scary at the same time, especially at my age. But I'm trusting God is going to lead me and show me the way. I want to be obedient in following His leading. I need courage. -

I'm praying that God will let me see a Sun Stand Still moment within my life at the present moment as my wife has let me know in the past month that she wants a divorce. I look forward to reading Pastor Furtick's book and if there was anything I could do to get an advance copy, it would be appreciated, as I think it could provide some amazing encouragement through this low point in my life. It's extremely trying as we both consider ourselves Christians, but my heart was broken when my wife said to me, "just because we're Christians doesn't mean we're in a Christian marriage." That brings me to my knees in tears of forgiveness, I have a sincere faith that God will help me continue to love her, regardless. I'm praying for God's leading in my life right now. I feel like I want to transition, but I want to be careful that I'm not transitioning out of where God wants me. I'm very frustrated in ministry. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January. I have had chemo and surgery and am currently undergoing 35 rounds of radiation. We do not have health insurance and the bills are mounting up. Our SSS prayer is that we can experience God's power through adversity, His faithfulness through uncertainty and His provision through scarcity. This was the crux of the Chinese New Year sermon at Elevation this year. Our prayer is that we can pay back the people we've borrowed from and to completely pay all bills. I need prayer for my marriage and my family... Unfortunately, I believed having a good marriage was good enough. At times I let my attention to meet the needs of the church take prescience over meeting the needs of my wife. But now my wife is considering leaving me for someone that she is attracted to and has started to have feelings for. This news has rocked me to the core of my being and will devastate our four beautiful daughters. I have tried to do everything I can do to help fix this problem in our relationship, but I realize now, that although I can change myself. and my thoughts, and my feelings, and my actions; there is nothing I can do to change hers... I am trying to turn this situation over to God, and to let him work, and submit to his will, but I feel as if my life is slipping into an abyss of despair. I know that God is Good, and with him there is always hope for my future, it is just so hard to see it in the midst of such a devastating storm. I pray for restoration in our relationship... I pray for protection for my family... And I pray for transformation in our lives... That God would be central in our hearts and in our relationship... Unless the Holy Spirit intercedes for us, I am afraid that my marriage is doomed. Please Pray For Me and My Family!!! -

I have been in love with the same woman for just about 14 years. I meet her when i turned 20, and i'll be 34 in 2 months. Our desire is to be married in the first week of December, we trust in the Lords leading and hope in His provision. We pray to Him to make a way, through the 'obstacles' in our way - finance, distance (She is in Nigeria at the moment, and i am in Virginia), our parents ( there is opposition due to the fact that we are both from different parts of the country (Nigeria), and different tribes), and also for us to be together in the US (we are both looking to obtain resident visas). I am taking the bar exam in Washington State in February. My prayer request is that I will have peace about the exam, my test anxiety will not hinder me taking the exam and that I will pass. -

I am pastoring a church that is slowly declining. I do not understand. Our worship is auththenic and presented with excellence. The Word of God is proclaimed boldly. I cry to God for His favor to revive His people and draw people to Himself through our ministry. People once involved and in leadership depart the church by simply walking away. I call out to God for a moving of His Spirit upon my life as pastor that will accomplish His will for His church. We are now so small as a church that every family that walks away brings a deep hurt and slows our momentium. Oh that God would grow His church. -

Eleven years ago I married my beautiful bride Adrian she was the one God sent to rescue me led me to Christ and has stuck by me all times hard times of my failing to be the man, the husband, and the father I'm called to be. God has transformed my life through a lot of different people and church but no one more than her. Four years ago started to lose her hearing come to find out she had two massive tumors on each side of her brainstem on the cranial nerves that control hearing and balance. She has had Several major surgeries and through that God doing amazing things in my heart that his love is stronger than any disease, stronger than any hardships. My wife was left without hearing, one side of her face not working, had relearn how to walk, swallow, and write and through all that her faith hasn't wavered not once many times her faith has kept me going. Our only aim in this life now it to proclaim the goodness of our God and his love and Glory and God has put a dream on my heart i want to be able to communicate on the level we did and want to my wife to hear, to hear to her children , to her favorite worship song My Sun stand still prayer is for God to restore my wife hearing to make the nerves work again the Doctors say that after a year there little to no chance the nerves will regenerate and that it she will never get her hearing back well its going on two years since the last surgery and I pray God that you will make those nerves wake up that God you can call dead men out of the grave and I know that you can do this. To you be all the Glory the one who gave his life so that we can live. -

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for the healing power of Jesus to transform the lives of my family, including my own heart. A year and half ago I started praying for a new career and I will preceed this by stating that it has been the best year and a half of my life. Initially seeking a better work environment with better hours and decent dollars, God worked hard on me. He showed me the discipline of prayer and patience, and to seek His heart's desire for me. This process, alone, was worth it. He transformed me. I began to, and still do, pray for Him to do the impossible for me... to take my world apart. First, the job opportunity I had been praying for came along... a start up company with a 40% pay decrease and not 8-5. What?! Really? Humor me, God, what's behind door #2? But I heard Him. I quit my very stable job with my very stable salary (miserable or not, at least it was stable!)and took this crazy leap of faith. Falling has never felt so good. Instantly, I realized that He has truly given me what I needed; not money or convenient hours, but a leadership team of believers who lead like believers. I can't believe I go to work everyday supported in my performance AND my faith. As a result of all of this, God created a foundation of faith in me that I did not know I could have. He continues is pushing me towards another cliff. I don't know what it is, but I do know it's going to build up my faith even more and create a gift in me that I cannot comprehend just yet. There is more of me to transform. There is more of me to take apart. This I know. It's easier said than done and this is where I need prayers. I'm sure I will be discouraged and tested. God created no one else like me and only I can be faithful to the plans He has for me to help further His kindgom. Please pray that I can take the leap when it comes. Please pray that I will be faithful through the end and that I won't, at any point, chicken out. -

So God has called me to go from a janitor at a church to one day be a Church-Planter. I have a few families that believe in my calling, and ready to go with me. My "Sun Stand Still" prayer, is that God would start guiding me in the way we should go. We are several hundred miles away from our destination with little funds, and lots of small kids, but to God our problems are tiny. He controls the wind and the waves and the sun. That He will continue to provide the strength and audacious faith to carry out all I believe He has called me to do. The salvation of my husband and our financial situation. -

To reach hundreds even thousands of lost and wanderering people in my city/region with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. To see their lives radically transformed by God's love and grace and then to send them back into their respective cultures throughout our city as missionaries. To build a city for God among the city of men. -

We are praying that God would send 400 people to The Vertical Church on Sept. 19th and bring salvation to 50 people that day. WE are praying that this will catalyze us toward being self supporting as a church plant by the end of 2010. -

My Sun Stand Still pray has been lingering in my heart since I was 16... and I'm a LONG way past that now... 20 years, to be exact. It was truly ignited in February 2009 by Pastor Steven's message "Dress for the Wedding." That title is remarkably appropriate. You see, my Sun Stand Still prayer is to not only marry, but to be a pastor's wife... to be partners in both life and ministry. I spent four years at a Christian university just full of pastors-to-be, but no ring by spring and no money back! ;) A tough pill to swallow, for sure. But in the last few years, I have really seen the wisdom and purpose in God's plan. The changes He needed to work in me. The things that He wanted to accomplish through me as a single woman... things I could not have thrown myself into with abandon had there been a husband and kids in the picture. But I have always believed it would happen. And six months ago, I thought I was on the brink of having this prayer answered. And then everything blew up in my face. Pastors live in fishbowls. Especially single ones. So do single women in leadership positions. I can't think of many things I hate more than gossip... except perhaps a lack of communication in its aftermath. Today I sit here wondering why Christians feel the need to chatter endlessly about things that aren't their business and that they really don't know anything about. But I digress. The reality is this relationship is in desperate need of healing. But God's hand is so evident. His encouragement unmistakable. I do not believe He is done here. And I believe that this can only be worked out through God's intervention. Through it all He is teaching me to love with His love... when it hurts and I don't want to... to forgive when there's no admission of wrongdoing... to trust Him to work this out for my good and His glory. Do I like the process? Not so much. Would I change it? No. The pits are absolutely necessary in the refining process. My faith could not be what it is today without these experiences. And I could not be the woman I am - or a future pastor's wife - without them. I have never wanted anything the way I want this. I believe this is a desire God has both sown and grown in my heart. And I have never fought for anything the way I have fought for this. I have the scars to prove it. But I also have the victories along the way... and triumph is just around the corner. I am lost in my path with God. After a 2 year relationship with a woman hat I thoroughly believe God keeps speaking me to cherish and stand by, I am losing her. Her 4 children are pulling in all different directions and do not want anybody interfering with their time with her. She has come close t a mental breakdown on 4 separate occasions now and I have had to nurse her back from them. I love her with all my heart and can safely say that I fully understand what love is now after 45 years of life. We are not actually dating now but talk everyday and see each other several times a week. She bounces back and forth on our future but says she needs to get her head straight first. I fully agree and I need to do some healing a well from all the fighting we have been through. I wish that God would heal our hearts and the kid. I provide for them as best I an with paying the bills and providing them food and do t out of the kindness of my heart and the love that I have for the all of them. lease show us the light and the path you would have us go an allow her to heal her wounds and emotional distress. My Sun Stand Still prayer...well I can say that I have prayed this a lot in the past 16 years, but I haven't done so with the "audacious faith" that I have now. I heard The Call to ministry when I was 14 years old. Since then I have worked in all aspects of ministry in my local church, but I haven't yet done so in the area that I know God has called me to. For many reasons, including finances, fear of the unkown, family...I have not taken the step in "audacious faith" to immerse myself completely in the ministry God has called me to, but I have been challenged now more than ever before and know that it is time to let go of all of my fears and insecurities and give it all to God and ask that doors be opened where they need to be opened and that my ears be open to the voice of God when he speaks as to where, when and how he is going to use me. This is the least likely time for our family to take this step (logistically), but I know that no problem or difficult situation is greater than God...so God, please open the doors for me!
